The ideafollowed a family holiday to Looe in Cornwall, circa 1980, and a subsequent visit was made approximately 15 years later to Coombe Junction and the surroundings were photographed as it was felt that it contained all the ingredients for a future interesting model. At that time the decision was made to move from modelling in N Gauge to 2mm Finescale to try and improve upon standards of modelling. Shortly after came University, Children, Marriage and the layout plans were suspended somewhat.......
In 2007, after a twenty year sabatical from the hobby, and having now joined the 2mm Association, the idea of building a model of Coombe Junction and Moorswater seemed to be a worthy prototype to re-engage once again and cut my teeth with 2mm Finescale.
An ideal project to commence building trackwork especially as a maximum of only two turnouts would be required to complete the branch and the dries at Moorswater. Although the model would be slightly limited in its operational movements, the motivation is to try and recreate an extract from a prototypical area as the enjoyment is more the process of the build, than operating the trains.
